Gorakhnath Temple of the Gorakhpur became its primary strategic centre from the beginning of the Ram Mandir movement. In the 80s and 90s, Mahanta Avedyanath, Mahant Ramchandra Paramahamsa and Ashok Singhal emerged as the outstanding face of the ‘Trimurti’ movement. The location of the secret meetings of this trio was the room of Mahant Avedyanath in Gorakhnath temple.

Even the smallest thing that happened there unfold rapidly and grew immediately in the public. It was less difficult to keep the conferences confidential in Gorakhpur. Secondly, this region was not far  from Ayodhya. Dwarka Tiwari, secretary of the Gorakhnath Temple, says that the Mahant Ramchandra Paramhans and the Ashok Singhal often visited the temple.
